The hostname is written well
The port is 3917 (maybe I need to open it somehow? no idea)

Resolving a host name means your DNS could not find the IP associated with the name.
Try to ping the hostname, and write down the IP address that shows up when you do the ping (CMD prompt, "ping 'name'"). Then, try to connect the vent client by IP address instead...
The port outgoing is not a concern, your firewall should allow this port out by default - unless someone have blocked it on purpose.

Usually this happened when you are not connected to the Internet but it looks like you are. So all I say is just download another minecraft client.
