I have a laptop and I had Firefox and AIM running, I went to open iTunes and it wouldn't open. So I decided to hit ctrl alt delete and go to the processes, I deleted like two things with iTunes in the name hoping to end it so it could restart. Right when I did everything on my desktop just got like swiped. They all had the same blank looking icon and had .lnk at the end of there name (Mozilla Firefox.lnk) so I was like wtf, I tryed to click on it and its asking me what I want to open it with. but when I try and browse anything besides program files it freezes up (which was a problem when I went to try and system restore it) I went into safe mode with the cmd prompt and it wouldn't let me system restore in safe mode.. PLEASE HELP!

Remove your hard drive, and have a professional extract valuable information, if it's still possible.

Judging by your description, I'd say you accidentally terminated a system process. You probably screwed something up with the operating system, which might mean that your hard disk is a write-off. Professional diagnosis is probably your best bet.

If you can get anything on your machine I would Back it up on a CD and then take your setup disks you got with your machine and reload it. that's about all you can do when your programming Crashes and I ought to know I have been building computers from scratch for the last 10 years.
