Not just the power going out, but all data to be wiped out so that even when the power went back on nothing would be retrievable. What kind of event would cause such a thing to happen? And can you imagine if it DID happen? All the information on the Internet gone, all "digital possession" (ebooks, videos, music) gone, all databases erased and so on. Especially now, there is so much that has only existed in a digital.

It is not possible, the sci-fi writers on the planet would have you believe that a nuclear explosion in space would cause an electro magnetic event that would fry all electronic components. This could also be caused by a massive solar flare which do occur, however you wouldnt loose everything. Lots of data and information is stored on media that is not affected by em fields. CD DVD and some flash drives wont be affected so allot of data would survive. Plus there are allot of installations for governments and security companies are in shielded self enclosed areas that are protected from that.

So no you cant loose everything some would survive.

Sure it's possible. If all humans are gone no one will be able to upkeep the medium holding the data. After a few millions years i'm sure most of the stuff will be toast. I'm not positive though, some stuff could be on indestructable material (if they have that). And really, what count's as digital data? It's all just zero's and one's bro.

first of all; it particularly is maximum unlikely that a flu pandemic could wipe out all human existence, or maybe an important proportion. human beings have been combating off the flu for a protracted time, the two earlier and after modern clinical technology. Now, i'm an atheist, so i do no longer anticipate the Rapture to take place in any respect, in spite of the shown fact that... in case you're a individual of religion, then you definately have already got your answer. If God exists, and if he's all-valuable, then definitely he could manage events in this sort of style that humanity survived till reported Rapture. Or, God would desire to enable the flu to take place and wipe out maximum of humanity, wherein case you have got Stephen King's novel "The Stand". after all, i actually does no longer difficulty approximately this in any respect. whilst there have been styles of flu that have killed substantial quantities of people, there is various factors to maintain any disease from wiping out our complete species.

When you make or write a disk you burn it in so its not possible to remove that.
