I found the tests to be quite difficult, alot because of the time constraints. I use Word and Excel every day but did not pass the tests the first time. You probably DO need to study, unless you just naturally learn for the sake of learning and have explored all the features of the programs for fun - even if you don't have a reason to use them. I learned a lot from the studying - about features I didn't know, or knew about but hadn't had reason to bring them into regular use. Get one of the Study Guides from the library or online source and actually work through it and you may pass but don't be surprised if you have to re-take the test at least once to get a Pass score. Out of the 3 sessions I attended recently with 20+ in each group - I only heard of 2 other people passing tests, everyone else failed (there may have been a few others that also passed.) I think the tests are very hard for most ordinary users, who haven't reviewed the prep material .
