This is strange. This morning I was playing Ragnarok Online, and surfing the web. I've been doing this for longer than a month now and no issue. However when I came home from work I turned on my computer and logged on into the game and noticed it was lagging, this being new to me. So I start going around the web, the game was closed, and pages were taking longer than usual to load, test downloads were taking on several hours, and videos and such were just sluggish. So I start checking things out. I run a few checks from Avast and Ad-Aware and nothing comes up, I'm clean. I check for programs in the background and only Avast was running, which it always has, and given no problem. I erased old cookies and compressed old files. No improvement. Also, CPU usage is noted at 0% at this time. I just don't understand what could be the problem. I hope someone might know. It's nothing serious, but it's really inconvenient.

You can try to modifying or disabling virtual memory/page files, if you have at least 1GB of RAM. In system properties -> advance tab -> performance settings -> advance tab -> virtual memory change. I usually use a custom size and make it the same so there is no resizing.

Also you can make your computer like new again, just format and reinstall the OS. Software is not physical (you can argue it's bits on the hard drive though)

i'm unable to record each and every reason a working laptop or computer could be sluggish, yet i will supply you with some upkeep information to attempt... Delete any unused or pointless courses and information. those would be taking over area, memory and supplies, for that reason slowing your computer. additionally delete your cashe/ temp information, empty your recycle bin, sparkling your information superhighway surfing historical past, and so on. sparkling your registry. Your registry holds each and every of the information concerning updates, installs, uninstalls and so on. so this desires to be wiped sparkling. this could optimize and eliminate redundant or undesirable products. Defrag your hardchronic. this could very much boost the cost and reliability of your working gadget. i could use a 0.33 party device for this, like Diskeeper.

Over time, you're computer WILL GET SLOWER, there is no way to get the "new car smell" back. There are many different things that you can do to slow sown you're computer. When surfing the web, you pick up cookies, they slow down you're computer only a little bit, Other than that, you have a progam that "defrags" you're computer, that is used for fragments of files or programs that have been left behind. Like i said, there are MANY ways to slow down you're computer.

OK, if the only problem is network speeds, why would you immediately suspect the computer? It seems everyone is so quick to jump to virus or malware. Most likely just net traffic.
