Remember "The-Park" Chat Community?

...myself along with several others are talking about re-establishing it as it used to be. a bit of a project for us if you will.

do any of you have any experiences from that site, remember what it looked like, how it was set up, etc? any input would be great. screen shots would be awesome (very doubtful of this, though). :)

also, if you would like to help, please email me (email is in my profile). if you know anything about perl, php, apache servers, etc, and feel like helping out that would be great. even if you don't know much and want to help out, let me know and we'll try to get the ball rolling.

The-Park lives!! :p

I used to chat in the Park back in 1997. Had a lot of fun and chatted with a lot of people. The screen was black and you could use any name you wanted, you were never assigned one. I remember some of the options were that when you typed something you could choose if you wanted it to appear to everyone that you were talking with one particular person in the chat room or if you were just speaking in general. Hope this helps, would love to see The Park running again.

After the park closed, a chat site was formed and after a name change or two is now Dockwave.

You will find some of the Park chatters there...

Loved The Park - met a lot of friends there. I was H²olly in the International Room. It had real ease-of-use too, just sign in & choose your name. Screen was black with star-dots on it, and you could chat privately or publicly at the same time. Messages stayed up for a while, so you could see who had last spoken and when they spoke. Some people changed their screen names every time but were regulars, and it was fun to guess who was who. You could also have an entirely private chat in a closed room. I was a reg for quite a few years, made some permanent friends from all around the world.

No idea if anyone even checks this anymore, but I think about that place from time to time. My main haunt was the International Room back in 1997-98 (also frequented a couple of the teen rooms while in college). I was Tower of Power then later Queen Ivory or Princess Ivory. I met my first serious romantic partner there. I had hoped to find a facebook group or something. Brent Hunter is on twitter.

'The- Park " was an amazing chat community, I was a member for many years. It was really cool until my girlfriend met someone online there- and met her in person. I suppose THAT could have happened anywhere!

That said- it really was a lot fun.
