I need to back up a WordPress Blog that I have as I have been having server issues with my current web host as it has not been very stable lately.

I don't know how to do backup the word press data base and restore it onto a new host. Additionally, I don't know that the process of backup the WP database, and restoring it to a new host consists of. I am worried that I may loose my data and I am hoping that someone has experience with sort of thing.

Hopefully someone can recommend a product or a procedure that can make this sort of thing 'idiot proof'.

If you can login to your dashboard, install wp db plugin, this can emailing your database backup daily or weekly depends on the settings you made.

If you can't as in previous answer mentioned, go to phpMyadmin (click the icon).

1. Choose which database you used to install wordpress. (if you are not sure, open wp-config, and check the database name)

2. once you are sure which database, click that database, click "export".

3. Make sure you have all table selected, and "mySQL" format, and click download.

That was to back up, to restore, click the new database, drop all the tables, and click "import". Browse your downloaded sql file database and click "go".

I would also copy the whole wp-content folder, so the images you ever uploaded will still stay.

To restore the images, overwrite the wp-content with your backup wp-content folder.
