Question:
What else can I do to make more space on my computer and have it run faster :)...?

Hey, it's me again, lol :)

Not sure if you've read my previous question post, but I asked about deleting the different version of java, keeping the new one and getting rid of the older versions. And that's all done now.
So now I've done all the 'cleaning up and run faster' methods that I can think of:

- Running 'Disk Cleanup' and checking the boxes of 'Temporary Files', 'Temporary Internet Files', 'Recycle Bin', and 'Downloaded Program Files'.

- Going to the 'Add/Remove Programs' window and deleting the ones I don't need anymore, or rarely use nowadays.

- Deleting unwanted music, files, and images (there were no videos thankfully).

Does anyone else know what other methods I can use to clean up my computer space further? :)

Thank you if you answer! :D

I read this some where but I can't remember where. Basically what it said was that when you first get a computer it is fast but then it slows down. This happens because when you download a program it puts some information on the registry. When you uninstall the program the information it put on the registry is still there. There are programs that you can download for free that let you clean out your registry.

If you are willing to spend a little money you could get a faster hard drive and processor. You can also upgrade the RAM. This helps a lot.

you can disable a lot of the windows services which are constantly running in the background. For instance, there is a service which runs in the background which supports smart card readers, which idd be suprised if your laptop/computer has one of these.

All these services eat up your resources, so you can disable ones you feel you dont need/want. You can re-enable them if you so wish. Best info is find a guide online to talk you through this, so you know exactly what you are disabling.

Also, check the startup items/programs that run when windows boots up (go ro RUN - type 'msconfig' and click on the 'startup' tab. For instance, if you installed itunes, it creates a service called itunes helper, which constantly runs in the background whether your running itunes or not, needlesly wasting memory/resources.

Research both methods before you start tampering with differant settings. Both will greatly increase tge speed of your computer! and i mean greatly!

For checking Pc performance you should also keep an eye on windows task manager(Ctrl + Alt + Del) , check that the CPU usage is below 5% when you are not doing any thing or there are no programs running in background and RAM should be atleast 60 to 70 % free.( In Performance tab you can check that, under Physical memory, Total and Available)

And also for REGISTRY i suggest you should use REGISTRY MECHANIC
