I have been noticing strange behavior in my Yahoo mail. Such as, having new mail appear for a fraction of a second and then disappearing. So I sent several of my other email addresses test messages. In the subject I typed "test" without the quotes. In the body I also typed "test" without the quotes. I sent the email and logged into all those other accounts. In each case Yahoo added a line that says "between 0000-00-00 and 9999-99-99". It even added it to my original email that was now in the Sent folder. What's going on here? I am afraid that I am missing some important email. By the way it only occurs when I use the words test. All my other emails seem untouched.

I just saw it on an email forwarded to me...

They are forwarding it from Yahoo...

I just thought the guy was trying to be funny like, what is your social security number? Well, it's between 0000-00-00 and 9999-99-99...

Update....

"If you have a Yahoo email account, you may notice between 0000-00-00 and 9999-99-99 at the bottom of the message. It’s a bug and usually happens during an upgrade and MySQL. It happens because Field_datetime:save_in_field() is reporting a failure because the data data is invalid. Convert_constant_item() will not function correctly and results in a comparison of the ‘dt’ field against binary string ‘9999-99-99 etc’ rather than the datetime of ‘0000-00-00 00:00:00′."

Good to know it's not just my emails with the "between 0000-00-00 and 9999-99-99" message.

Not that it makes much sense to me but I just found this explanation on the internet:

I received an email with that from only one person, and that person used Yahoo email. I did notice that the usual advertising tag line that Yahoo adds on was not there, so I suspect an error on Yahoo's part. Instead of the Yahoo tagline, you got the "between 0000-00-00 and 9999-99-99."

It will probably go away on its own.

vnsonya and ZGramma both are on the right track I believe. After searching on the internet for this phrase, it seems it is endemic to Yahoo mail. 0000-00-00 and 9999-99-99 is a date range, from indefinite in the past to indefinite in the future.

On stopping it, you could experiment with attachments, formats, settings, etc. and send an email to yourself to see what's triggering it. Otherwise, I would go here and send a message to Yahoo for help: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/help_f.html?from_url=http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/

(Maybe it's a little protest on Yahoo indicating the time range they will not accept a buyout offer from Microsoft). :)

It's not just Forwards and Replies. It also occurs when sending a new message. I just tested it by sending a new e-mail to my alternate e-mail address. Same thing happened. It appears to be a system wide issue with Yahoo mail. I think that by now they should be aware of it. I also sent a message to the Yahoo Customer Service help.

Depends what email program you are using.

It may be a 'signature' that you've set up on your email (if you are using for instance Outlook Express) or it may be a signature block the company set up for you (if you are for instance working for a company with 'exchange' email system) or it may be something that the mail provider set up (if you are using web based email).

For the first case, remove the signature / stop it being put on the bottom. For the second case, talk to your admin people. For the third, change your web email company!

How you chage it if it is your email program... depends what program you've got. Try the 'help' and look for signature block.

I think it's a problem with Yahoo cause the same thing has been happening to me.. I just sent technical help an email about it

Strange! The same thing just happen to me. But I was forwarding a picture, to someone, and realized I should have just download it to the email directly. Then I didn't have that problem anymore.

Yahoo! is appending it to the bottom of outbound e-mail msgs. Us computer scientists have several "earthy" phrases we use to describe these kinds of occurrences, but I'll just guess that some Yahoo! programmer is saying something that means the same as "Oops, my bad...".

Added: yep, the above post confirms my theory!

I noticed it too, and I think it may be an SQL error in whatever part of yahoo mail adds, well, ads.
