I have issues formatting windows xp

at first i decided to format windows xp, because it was full of files.

So i inserted the disk, the installation was going fine, but it stuck 35 mins.
at the 3rd Radio Button...

then i closed the power and pc turned off. when it started again it was going on this screen again
and it was always getting stuck at 35 minutes.... well i got bored of this and then i turned off again
then i pressed the ANY key to Boot from the CD. and i got into the blue screen. unfortunately the screen
is showing me this

-Windows XP Professional Setup

Setup has already attempted to upgreade the following Windows Installation.
C:\WINDOWS "Microsoft Windows XP Professional"

Setup will try to complete the upgrade again
-To retry upgrading to Windows XP, press ENTER.
-To quit Setup, press F3.

If i choose Retry, it has as a result to make a big loop of restarting the PC when it reaches the installation screen, and this will never end restarting the pc.

if i press quit, it will restart the pc again and will do the exact same thing, it will try to upgrade
windows xp again

i mistakely pressed the upgrade button at first and now i don't know what to do since both choices
do not work

and i don't want to simply upgrade and keep all the files, i want to format the pc and just have
empty windows.

Please Help me....i can't open window...

Make sure that the CD is clean and no scratches Clean your CD carefully clean using a commercial CD cleaner or follow the instructions listed on this site:

http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-a-Scratched-CD

You may have an upgrade version of Windows XP. That requires you to have an operating system in place to upgrade from but it can do a clean install if you have a valid product code from Windows (including XP) look on the bottom/back of the computer for a sticker.

Put in the XP CD and restart the computer and it should boot from the CD. Make sure in the BIOS that you have boot order set to boot from the hard driver prior to the CD. Change nothing else but the boot order.

Follow on screen instructions for the install.

If the computer will not boot from the CD or you still get the upgrade message and you have an old OS window 95, 98, ME VISTA try to install it and then run the upgrade program again. Watch the screen, it will allow you to delete all partitions and format the hard drive and do a clean install of XP.

If you still can't get it and nothing is working for you, You can do a boot and nuke the computer. This will erase the hard drive and you can start over with a clean install.

Suggest : Darik's Boot and Nuke ("DBAN") it is a self-contained boot floppy that securely wipes the hard disks of most computers. DBAN is appropriate for bulk or emergency data destruction.

Worst case you can download from Microsoft the XP boot program on floppy disk. Microsoft has the how to do that instructions here:

you could no longer improve rapidly from abode windows XP to abode windows 7. era. it won't carry over your information. era. you could purchase the extra much less costly "improve" version of abode windows 7 when you consider which you have already got XP, and you will be able to "improve" your working gadget to a extra moderen version, yet you could no longer rapidly "improve" and have your information, settings, etc. carry over as maximum persons choose. you will technically be compelled to do an entire clean installation, whether you have the "improve" version. era. i did no longer make it this way, Microsoft did. and that i responded an entire entire ton of questions approximately this whilst abode windows 7 got here out. it could in all possibility be sensible to bypass with abode windows 7 at this element in case your computing gadget can guard it and the guy on the keep will do it for you with no intense value. even even with the undeniable fact that, you will ought to back up something intense in case you opt to maintain it. Your information won't nevertheless be there. the neatest element to do (in case you could handle to pay for it) is for the guy in the keep to place a clean annoying force on your computing gadget and to place in abode windows 7 to that. you could then nevertheless connect remotely on your previous annoying force, and pull off any information that are nevertheless there. in case your previous annoying force became into the middle situation (which the guy in the keep ought to have the potential to finally tell), this saves you. And if it is not, you could now use it as a backup force somewhat. yet all of us telling you that isn't any situation to "improve" or which you have a call between an improve and an entire installation or that your information will nevertheless be there for you is incorrect. XP to abode windows 7 is *continually* a sparkling installation, even even with the undeniable fact that it is achieved with the extra much less costly "improve" version of the utility.
