Question:
What happened to all the stuff on my computer?

Everything excluding my programs has been deleted off my computer. All my pictures, music, documents are all gone. Everything on my desktop was deleted except for the shortcut to firefox and the recycle bin. I ran AVG scan to see if there was some sort of virus on my computer but it came up with nothing. Should I try to use my recovery disks or something?

don't use recovery disk, it will restore computer to factory settings which will delete all your personal data like pictures, documents, videos.

use recovery program instead, recovery program will scan your hard disk for recoverable files and recover them. here's one I used to use

run windows explorer to see what is there it is highly unlikely it is gone, windows often loses the desktop or user settings and only shows a basic desktop and programs menu on the start button, go to documents and settings>your user name> and see if there are any folders named desktop, desktop.0 or desktop.1 rename desktop to desktop.5 and rename desktop.0 to desktop and your files will be back

If it's all gone off the desktop, just right click it and go to view and make sure that the "Show desktop icons" checkmark is there.

It looks that you are switched to another user account so that the old account is deleted and you are accessing a new account.
