I'm having trouble booting my desktop PC with Windows XP. In a normal boot, my monitor goes blank before the Windows welcome message at the start-up so I can't do it with command prompt or with msconfig. I tried tapping the F8 key when I should but only a menu that asks me which device to boot from appears. No options on what mode in which to boot the PC.

Do you think this is a video card problem?

I think it a hardware - Hard drive failure course the problem. Not your video card problem. As for the message "Select device to boot from", mean the system cannot detect your hard drive, tried to select delete key or function key which can go to your pc cmos(setup), checked the hard drive is detected or not. If not, then mean you may have to change a new hard drive.

F8 should be the safe mode menu. The boot menu should be F12.
