I just installed Ubuntu (full installation) on my old HP DV9000 and i love it so i am planning to do a partition installation (dual boot) on my new Inspiron 15r.

Question 1: Does it reformat the hard disk before it does a partition?
I already have songs and other files in the hard disk. (I don't have an external drive until next week)

Question 2: Is it going to slow down my windows?
Specs for new laptop [Intel core i5 @3.5 ghz, 4gb Ram, 500gb Rom ]
Partition will be 400GB WIndows 7 and 100GB Ubuntu

Question 3: Basing in partition size is 100GB enough for Ubuntu to run fast?

Thanks!

You can install Ubuntu inside Windows using the Wubi installer. Insert the Ubuntu LiveCD when whilst booted in to Windows and you will be offered the option. There is no effect on the performance of Windows and the process is completely reversible

The Ubuntu Windows installer is also available as a standalone Download

1: It does not format the hard disk, only makes a new partition out of any free space on it, while leaving any used space alone.

2: It won't slow down Windows at all!

3: 100GB is plenty enough! You will also be able to access all the files on your Windows partition from Ubuntu, so any music or videos etc. you have on there, you will still be able to access.
