ok so, I left my laptop at my mums while i went on holiday, it was perfectly fine when i left it, when i returned home my mum told me i have a virus, i thought ok no problem i'll just run my anti-virus software to remove it (i use CCleaner, spybot & adware) all 3 softwares didn't pick up the virus.

The virus: its a fake security virus, fake security alerts and scans keep running and popping up and says i need to pay for a anti-virus thing to get it removed.
I've searched on google on this laptop (my mums) for ways to remove it, i found one, with good reviews but software from the intenet is needed to be downloaded, i would download it but i have a problem.. the internet browser is not working, MSN and everything else is working fine but not the internet browser, i've tried turning off the firewall but still no luck.

p.s. if your woundering how i'm on the internet now, i'm using my mums laptop.

Help needed ASAP.
can also email me at shinesophie@yahoo.com

Thanks

Hi

you can try this, I found on a site,it is worth a try

Disconnect from internet if you are connected

Do system restore after you run your computer in safe mode. To do this, press F8 repeatedly while your computer is booting up, then press safe mode. After that, go to start, help and support, system restore, and follow the directions after that.restore it to a date it was working alright

Try using Malwarebytes AntiMalware.

Freeware software.

Download it from here http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=5756

I highly recommend this piece of software, its helped me out so many times. Malwarebytes is amazing, fixed my cousins pc, her problem sounds pretty much the same as yours.

If that doesn't work, Try Avira AntiVir Personal, also free software.

Download the setup files of these programs via your mams laptop, put them on a usb stick, put the usb in your infected pc, install malwarebytes first, and try scanning with that, then if that don't work, install avira onto it and scan with that.

It probably isn't a virus its a rogue program install by that website. press control alt delete to go to task manager and look under processes see if there is a process with a similar name and end process . if there is search your computer for the program and delete it. Then Start/run Msconfig go to the startup tab and delete it. Also start/programs/startup and delete the shortcut if it is there.

Majorgeeks is secure. even nonetheless, first disable proxy server on your browser on the contaminated pc - this can be the reason for information superhighway issues. in case you rename hotfix to hotfix1 and delete it, after reboot you need to have much less issues.
