why is ubuntu slower than windows?

I thought linux system is much faster and reliable than windows. sure, ubuntu doesn't freeze and is reliable. but, I feel ubuntu is slower than windows. maybe, firefox is slower than explore. I only use computer to use internet.

It all depends on your computer. I would check your Ubuntu installation.

You must have something wrong,. Ubuntu on its worst day is way faster than windows on its best day .



Make sure that things are installed correctly. check your system for issues and errors, makes ure you login scripts (if any) are not having any errors, and make sure the system is mounting clean .

You probably have a legacy system running Ubuntu, what you may have to do it install Xubuntu, it runs much better on older hardware.
