Basically, I want to create an excel scatter diagram that has two dimensions (X - Support Ratio; Y - Available Capacity). There are basically 5 other measurements that are shown within this scatter diagram. All this refers to a different state. For example, NY will have a specific support ratio, a specific available capacity, and also have a specific number to the other 5 measurements. The chart will actually look like a 4 box square with points representing all the different measurements.

I would post this question on a site called

This sounds like information overload!! Don't think you can get more than 3 extra degrees of freedom in.

The only real way to get this many degrees of freedom in one chart is by using a bubble chart scatter diagram, and separating some of the continuous variables into (for example) quartiles. Then you could adopt some scheme such as:

x: Support Ratio

y: Available Capacity

Bubble radius: Other continuous measurement (1)

Bubble colour: state

Bubble border style: quartile for measurement (2)

Bubble shading pattern: quartile for measurement (3)

Basically, it's going to be almost illegible. Even a table will be easier to work out than that much data in one point, in my opinion.

Pay someone $25 to do it.
