"Windows has found that the file may be missing or corrupt - WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/CONFIG/SYSTEM"
I know it starts with WINDOWS and SYSTEM32, and I believe it ends with CONFIG and SYSTEM.
So, I pressed F8 as it started up, and it gave me a list of things to do. (SAFE MODE, Run with last good settings, which I tried both, to no luck.) I think I pressed enter system settings (?), and it took me to a page where I had to put in the computer password. There then were an array of settings, and I saw an option saying "Fail-Safe.' I pressed it, and pressed yes, hoping it would at least let me enter the computer... It rebooted the system, and now I am stuck at a black screen with white writing.
At the top it says things like
"Pheonix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG, An energy star ally. Copyright 1984-2003, etc."
Under it, it says,
"Main Processor : Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz (200x15.0)
At the bottom it says
"Press DEL to enter setup"
It does not respond when I press DEL. Nor does it respond when I tap F8 (or DEL) as it starts up.
I am not sure if Failsafe is what caused this, or a virus, or the computer was just too full. The computer was very full as it had many pictures, songs, videos, documents, and online games.
The kids delete games after they are done, I made sure of it. The only one they had installed at the time was World of Warcraft, which has given no problems before. I do have McAfee virus protection, and IF any of the downloads have a virus, we delete it. They arent incompetent and download multiple unreliable programs, they are pretty tech-savvy.
Anyways, just clearing up that the games are most likely not what the problem is.
This computer has many things on it that cannot be replaced; Please help.
Thanks, sorry for such a long post.
