Webpages are of different formats. Out of them only html format webpages can only by saved on to computer.
Eg. the webpage which has 'asp' as extention cannot be saved on to system.
The best way is to load adobe acrobat full version (not just the reader) and then print the page using the adobe pdf settings in the print menu. Then you will be able to save the page in pdf format.

I believe you are using Internet Explorer. I had the same problem many times.. Here are some solutions..
1. In ie reset your internet settings.
Wait for the page to completely load and the status bar show "Done"
In most cases this must help you but if not the best soution is
2. Switch to "Mozilla Firefox".
Now i am using Firefox and there are no such issues. Ofcourse some of the page from microsoft.com or msdn are not available in firefox. Everything else is the best!

if you are using a mac then save it as a bookmark but i assume that you are using windows then save it to your favourites. as the person below me said only some formats can be saved i.e the ones with http: at the beginning
