Dells are excellent computers. People only gripe that dells suck do to issues with their computers...its called defective components that go wrong its all in how Dell's Customer Service deals with it. Their customer service is excellent and quick to send back the computer.

Desktops the E520 series are excellent. (all of them are)

Laptops I would suggest either the E1405 or E1505 line. Both are powerful lines at great prices....expecially when Dell has sales and deals on them.

Im gona be ordering a new E1505 laptop to replace my old Dell one. I've been happy dealing with Dell over the past years.

It's not worth bu ying Dell computers. Because once they come out with new model, after a while it'll become like an absolete model. I bought once in 2002. Yeah, so now it's kinda hard to upgrade unless I go back to Dell and its really money consuming.

So now, I build up my own PC. All you gotta do is to know what do you want to do with the PC, so it's easier to get a good PC based on your budget. Self assemble PC is much better + cheaper.

The almost identical MacIntosh system for $2300 actually has full Pro software, and a 1 year warranty, compared to the Dell system that is $3300 after $650 in "rebates", but, only has that 90 day warranty, and only comes with "TRIAL" versions of most major apps.

And, that comparison is in some of the November magazines on the newsstands.

Also, Consumer Reports comments on the Mac warranty in three consecutive issues, and awards the Mac supremacy in the marketplace for quality and service.

My favorite, "BEST" Dell is a refurbished unit, with the full warranty, AND includes the M$ windoze license (that we don't use), for $217.00 plus shipping, and, running upto 50X faster, because we run the FREE http://pclinuxos.com on it!

none, my brother bought 1 and once he started having problems they wouldn't honor the warranty. He had the battery fry twice and the hard drive quit having no previous problems. When the batteries were recalled Dell told him that his was too old to be replaced (it was less than 1 year old). Bad support and bad customer service, buy a Gateway.

Honestly, the question is very broad. Dell makes PCs that are super powered and super expensive for gaming - and they make low level powered PCs for people who just intend to do schoolwork or office work and music/movies. Your use completely determines which one you should get.

Dell is one of the best companies at matching your needs to the hardware they will sell you. You really should consult them.

None of the above!

Get a Mac!

It's much easier to use, makes more sense, and doesn't get viruses.
