My XP Computer is broken!!!?

My current system is a Windows XP.

Here are my two problems:

1. BIOS System fails to recognize keyboard during boot menu. Cannot use arrow keys to switch to Safe Mode for example. My keyboard is a USB. Using a Windows 7 System, the same keyboard has no problem in boot menu. This is a big issue when in play with the major second issue.

2. It was one day when I turned off the computer. When I turned it back on later, the system is in a never-ending loop in boot menu. It starts with loading hard drive, then "Please select the operating system to start." Obviously, without the keyboard talking to the BIOS, I cannot change the option. Have to wait for countdown. Then, the next thing it does is say something like, "Windows was having an issue. Please select the last configuration when it did work. If you have no idea why it stopped working, or the computer went out during a power outage, then simply Start Windows Normally." Obviously, I would try to enter Safe Mode or select a different operating system, but I cannot even flick to other options when the keyboard is practically null in BIOS.

With these two problems, I practically have no working computer. If anyone knows how to help me, I thank you ahead of time.

The HDD has failed, and no amount of fixing will bring it back to life. Hopefully, you have backed up all your important data as you will have a lot of trouble retrieving it.

Official Microsoft support for XP has now finished, so you won't get a fix from Microsoft, and if you do get it up and running, don't expect any updates or security fixes as they won't be forthcoming.

The only real option is to purchase another, up-to-date computer.

You might have to find an old PS/2 keyboard, as those are interrupt driven and typically don't have the same driver issues that USB keyboards do.
