None of my programs, other than the internet, will open. when i click on them it comes up saying
"the application failed to initialized properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK ot terminate the application."
would that be because the windows service pack is gone?
i've tried to redownload it, but it says something like the essential programs are missing. should i download the windows service pack 1 then the second? i'm completely lost.
any help would be great.
thanks.

I think your problem is that some important system program (probably the one that launches programs or something) is corrupted. You could try and find and replace it, but it might be easier to back everything up and reinstall Windows.

Sounds like Microsoft Windows is horribly broken. Run a repair install.

It sounds like Windows is badly damaged. I'd try going to run and trying to type in "sfc /scannow" and see if it runs, if it does, let it run, restart when it's finished, and try things again.

If it continues to do this I'd try running the repair from the OS install disc. If neither works you may have to reinstall the OS.
