The blank CD says 80 minutes, 700 MB. I have compressed MP3 files that add up to 694 MB and 759 minutes. Thanks to all for the earlier answers, but I still don't understand why Windows Media Player says my blank CD doesn't have room for most of the compressed song files I'm trying to put on the CD. (And I do have a new car CD player that will play compressed MP3 files.)

WMP would be going by minutes instead of MB.

You could burn your CD as a "data" CD instead of "audio" CD. You may be able to get all them songs on there and still play on your MP3 enabled CD player.

Like the cd says, it has 80 minutes OR 700 MB. If the files are saved in an audio cd format, then you can only fit 80 minutes of audio on it. If you save the files in data format, then you can fit 700 MB. The reason why Windows Media Player says your blank CD doesn't have room for the compressed song files is because it is creating an audio CD. If you use a CD burning program such as Roxio Easy CD Creator, it will allow you to create a data CD while showing you how much free space you have remaining on the CD. In audio format, the free space will be shown in the form of minutes. In data format, the free space will be show in the form of Megabytes. Also, if you create a data CD with the compressed MP3s, your car CD player should be capable of playing such a CD.

If the CD says 80 miunutes, and your MP3 files are 759 minutes than you don't have enough space on one CD. It doesn't matter that it says it's only 694 MB. Even if the minutes on the CD and MP3s matched.. 694 MB would be cutting it too close to the max allowable and probably would still say it's not enough space to hold your MP3s.

So when you have put your compressed files (759 minutes) onto an 80 minutes CD, how would you play it. A CD can only play "raw" music files (no compression)

700 MB. Save songs in Mp3 format. Then u can save upto 100 songs in that CD. Use Nero software to do it.

As you know, MP3s are much smaller than normal Audio tracks.

WIndows Media player is trying to burn them in normal audio cd format.

Just go to My Computer, then your burning drive, then in the folder that appears, just drag and drop your MP3s.

It won't let you tack on more songs? Or you cannot get the 694 MB onto the CD?

On any CD it's the MB space. The 80 min. is just an estamate of time for non compressed files. Your limit is 700 MB.

If you are trying to make them audio format, you will only get about 20 songs on there. MP3s are data, not audio. Audio = wav = huge.

blank cd have 80min. or 700mb space, 80min. stands for, if you burn the cd using audio format, and 700mb for burn using space, by putting mp3 songs. one more thing that the players should support the mp3 cds.
