Question:
Windows XP only one user...?
2007-02-01 19:54:15 UTC
Ok i have two users. Actually only one but the olther one is all users but im not sure that matters. I want to know if i can make it so that it atomatically logs onto my account when i turn the computer on. I dont want to have to wait for the screen to choose which account and then choose mine and then wait. Is there any way i can bypass this screen and have it attomatically log into my account since i am the only person who uses the computer. I hope someone can help.

Thanks

You will have a guest user and an administrator user ( that is the account you are using ) . If there are more accounts then delete them. Turn off the guest login. This should solve your problem. If you have .NET installed then there will be two more accounts created ( "SQL Debugger account" and another one ) . Delete them.

Start>Settings>Control Panel> User accounts

If you are the only one who uses the computer you can delete the other profiles. Go to Start>Control Panel>UserAccounts>Change an Account. Here you can choose to delete any unwanted accounts you have on your computer. You can also delete or make new passwords here. If you just want your computer to automatically log you in, make sure you are set as the Computer Administrator. Just realize that if you don't make your account password protected anyone can access your files, so I would suggest leaving your password if you have it or creating one if you don't. Hope this helps!

You can go to control panel > user accounts and keep only your user account and disable the other one.

you will not need to select which user to log on to next time you boot to desktop.

Go to your desktop menu and under Maintenace etc....and then under "start up options" and fallow the steps; it should guide you through easily by displaying what your system opens the second you turn it on; if not, then go to start menu, click search, the set up options and that should also help you....if all else fails go to help index and type search for "Primary Account/Holder"....I have 2 accounts too....one for me (primary) and one for my son and when I turn my pc on it will ask me to click on who's account I wish to open and then it automatically opens my windows with MY set-up options and configuration

Go to:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

Get tweakui. There is an option in there to do what you want.
