SORry ITS LONG BUT I NEED HELP ASAP plzz readd....
I made a video on windows movie maker, and then when I saved it into my computer it saved as WMV, and it played perfectly in windows media player. I though that I could just burn it like burning songs, but I couldnt burn it thru windows media player, actually in windows media player under BURN it gives you options to choose from, there is one AUDIO CD and one DATA CD OR A DVD,. i tried both but when I tried to play it on my dvd (Insignia) it gave me a weird sound and didnt play. So I looked thru google and saw that i have to make it avi, i converted it to avi (using Any Video Converter) , but then it didnt have video on windows media player because of missing codecs or something, so again after searching for hours I downloaded DIVX and that helped me, the avi started playing with sound and video on windows media player, but i still didnt know how to burn it on cd. then i tried to vonvert the video in any video converter as NTSC and i still didnt know how to burn it. then i tried to burn using divx and again no luck, i put the blank cd in the cd rom, and then go to transfer to dvd player or tv ( i tried both) and then i put the video in there and click on start it starts to convert the video, and after it gets to 90 something percent the status said canceled. i dont know what else to do! i need this dvd tomorrow. I can buy a blank DVD tomorrow and try that too but will it work? i dont know if my computer burnd dvds or no i never tried that. I have HP Pavilion and its vista. And i dont want a data cd, because i have to play it on the tv. my dvd player is insignia or something like that, and it usually plays jpeg pictures and stuff......sorry its long i just wanted to explain every step that i took. plz help :( thanks in advance

First, make sure if you have a CD burner or a DVD burner in your computer - by looking at the drive from the outside. If it says something like DVD recorder/burner then follow (1) below, else go to (2)

Anyway, you basically need a software like Nero, which has the option to convert a movie and burn a CD or DVD

(1) To burn a movie into a DVD, you choose (in Nero) to use the DVD option and choose to "Make your own movie", then it's simply choosing to import your AVI file and creating a DVD menu for it and putting an empty DVD-R in the drive, then burn it

(2) To burn a movie into a CD, you will do the same but with the CD option selected, and you'll choose the SVCD (Super Video CD) option to get the movie become available on a CD-R

Remember, putting a movie on a CD (as SVCD) means less quality! So try to get (or buy) a DVD burner if you don't have one, and you intend to do this often

Good luck

If you're wanting it to play in a DVD player for everyone to be able to watch, then you will have to put it on DVD. The only exception is if you're using a DVD player that supports CD-R and can play different video file formats (which I doubt is the case these days). If you have a computer that came with Vista than I'm guessing that it's new enough to have a DVD burner included in it. Check the front of the burner for anything that says DVD-R, DVD+R, etc. and if that's on there, then you can burn DVD's.

Hope this helps :)

Don't fret. I might have the best solution for you. Delete all your encoded videos cause you don't need them, except the WMV video you created with Movie Maker. Now, go to this site http://www.sothinkmedia.com/movie-dvd-maker/ and download the Free version of movie-dvd-maker. Install it and use it to burn your WMV video onto a DVD disc which you can play in whatever video player appliance you have. I hope I have helped. Inform me when you're successful or not or you can contact me at my email jaysumalnap@yahoo.com if you have more questions. Good luck!

PS. I assume you have a DVD-RW drive because most Pavilions have it.

Omg, so long, but I read it carefully, I know the reason, at first, you should note most dvd players only recognize standard video DVD well, can't recognize data dvd(put separate video files to dvd disc directly, such as wmv files on dvd disc), so you can't use windows media player which only can be used to burn cd or data cd/dvd, you need to use a right software that can convert and burn your video files to standard video DVD, you can try RZ DVD Creator, it can directly convert any video files to standard video dvd and burn to any cd&dvd disc(CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+R DL, etc), such as convert and burn wmv files to standard video DVD, easy to use, just drag and drop your wmv files into RZ DVD Creator, and insert a cd/dvd disc into your computer dvd burner drive, and click START button, you will get a good standard video DVD from your wmv files, then you can play the burned standard video DVD well on your dvd player. You can yahoo or google search RZ DVD Creator and download it, hope it can help you.

At last you should note the dvd disc is the better choice than cd disc, because the better quality and larger size.
