I downloaded season 7 of Shameless online, and I'm putting it on a flash drive to be able to watch on my TV through my Xbox. I was wondering if there were a way to change the title of the episode to just the name of the episode without lol.mkv at the end of it without messing it all up so its unplayable? And to add like a summary of the episode that ill see when it pulls up on my Xbox? I was thinking to add it in the comments through properties to do that, but it wont let me enter anything.

Many systems have a naming structure such as filename.ext and this can vary depending on what system and software created the file.

You can normally change the filename part, although there can be limits to the number of characters and there will restrictions on the use of certain characters in the filename. The ext bit is called the file extension and normally defines what type of file it is and specifically what encoding is used for the file. Many systems use the extension to decide which application to use to handle the file. For example a .txt file is normally a simple text file. An mp3 file is a music file that has been created with a specific type of file compression (MP3). wmv, mpg, mov and wtv are all different types of a large range of video files. Some players will handle only certain types of file. Changing the extension to one that a particular player will handle generally does not work, although the file type in the extension may be acceptable, the file format will not work with an incompatible player.

In Windows you can hide the file extension so that, although it is still there, the extension does not appear in Windows applications. In other systems, the extension may still be showing.

I hope this helps.

You can only hide the extension on your computer , if it displays .mkv on other devices then you are stuck with it.

Control panel > Folder options > View > Apply/OK

plug it into your computer and edit the name from there although I think there is a word limit for it so you wouldn't be able to put a summary.
