Question:
Why won't iTunes write on my blank disk?

I bought a pack of CD-RWs and I've been burning songs on them no problem. I tried to reuse a disk that already had music on it. I haven't had to write any CDs at all since I got my iPod like 5 years ago, but back then I think I remember using CD-RWs quite a few times over and over on the same disk. The only problem was that I had to erase all the old data off before I could reuse them. Well iTunes just spat my disk back out and told me to insert a blank disk. Then I formatted the disk to make it blank, and my computer says its blank, but iTunes won't use it still, it says "this is not a blank disk, please insert a blank disk." Can anyone shed some light on why this is happening and how I can get itunes to use my disk again? (and be mature, don't tell me ipods suck or get a zune, or itunes sucks)

If the disk is finalized then it wouldn't work unless its a rewritable disk..

Remember things have changed especially in the Computer industry.. i was having problems like that and i went out and got different brand disk...but i also changed the programmer i was using to burn with..

But i have that same problems with Windows media player.. i could never burn a disk trough that.(it spits it out) so i use a different source to burn with

maybe you can buy some new disk or use a different burner to burn with

not sure if this helps but thought i could give you a few different ideas

If your using a Mac, open Disk Utility to erase the disk and be sure to choose "Erase Completely" and not "Quickly".

Basically you need to re-format the disk by writing "blank" data over everything. A quick format just changes the directory and allows data to be written over but this cannot happen when "burning" a CD as it needs to linearly write new data and cannot go over old mixed up data.

If your on a PC the same is true. Be sure to format the long way and not the quick way.

The above will take longer to format that way. It's worth the wait and you'll know it's working if it takes a long time.

I hope this helps!
