First of all, you should ask yourself these questions:
option 1: it is asking you to reset the time everytime you startup your computer, means it changes it to default factory time.
Answer: your battery is dead, replace it.
option 2: if you are on the internet, and you have syncronization enabled and your regional setup is wrong you might get a wrong syncronization.
Answer: try to disable autosync or set your regional setup correctly.
PS: google how to disable autosync if you dont know :)

TJC19999 is right! Replace the small CMOS battery
The CMOS is a chip that retains settings such as the time, keyboard settigns, and boot sequence. The CMOS chip is able to keep these settings in the absence of computer power because it is attached to a small CMOS battery. This battery is usually good for 2 to 10 years.
Good luck! (-:

I agree, there is a battery on the motherboard to power the CMOS chip when the computer is turned off. It looks like a silver flat disc. Jules, Australia.

Agree with the crowd. Dead BIOS battery. Looks like a round watch battery and may or may not be replacable. Depends on the system whether it is attached to the system board or not.

Your manual should tell you where it is. Also, if you open the clock, there's a button to update the time automatically (if you're online).
