Firmware is extremely low level code that is required to make a computer work if all other software was deleted. Without firmware you could not reload the system. It takes code to tell the computer to read the initialization code on a CD.
Firmware makes a part run. Software is something that makes the part do something else. Example: firmware makes the cd drive work, but the software makes it burn.
Software is the stuff that you, as the user, put into your computer in order to do things like word processing, or internet browsing. You can add and delete software essentially whenever you want.
Firmware is the stuff that manufacturers put into the sub-parts of the computer, simply to give each piece the instructions that it needs to run.

Firmware is the basic instruction needed for the system to boot up that means the settings remained inside the BIOS(Basic Input/Output System) is known as firmware while Operating System is a software which provides user friendly environments.
In some cases linux can be known as firmware because it provides open source that is we can change the settings of hardware through linux not from windows.
Basically operating system is a software not firmware.

Originally there was hardware (the physical computer and attached devices) and software (the programs that ran the computer). But as peripheral devices became more sophisticated, they started needing their own programs, above and beyond what was running in the computer.
Because these programs were "software" that ran in the "hardware," the middle term "firmware" was born.
Although firmware was originally as unchangeable as the hardware, it's not any longer. One of the basic chips on the PC, the Basic Input Output System (BIOS) chip, which runs the computer when you first boot it up, is firmware, but it can definitely be "flashed" or updated by the computer. Similarly, Linksys routers have updateable firmware.
Hope that helps.

Software is code that is loaded into memory from some other storage media in order to work.
Firmware is code that is read and executed directly from the EPROM chip where it is stored, and is typically for low level hardware control.
The operating system is software.
The bios (the stuff that you see happening before you see any windows logos, etc) is a type of firmware. Most hardware has a firmware chip that controls it. It contains very basic microcode, and can be updated if needed for new conditions (new operating systems, error fixes, etc.)

Firmware is the software , placed semi- permanently in the hardware ,
and i think you knwo the the software

Firmware is hardwired into the hardware. You usually can't change or delete it. It contains code that tells it how to boot the computer.
