I have a PowerBook with Tiger, the older brother of your's ;) I have installed Firefox because a website from my university is not completely compatible with Safari… I'm not sure where the problem is, I'm now waiting for either a fix of Safari or a fix of the website.

But I got used to Firefox now, particularly the feature that let's you search the website as you type a keyword. So no need to browse through menu's to click the Find option, just type. I miss that in Safari.

And I'm usually not at all into plugins etc, imo they only mess up your hole system, but I installed the PimpZilla theme which made Firefox looks really smooth (you gotta admit, standard Firefox is just plain ugly) and another plugin which says "stop, Hammertime!" every time I stop a page from loading. Funny from time to time :)

So it's up to you… If you're fine with Safari, stick to Safari, it's a good browser! If you think you'ld like the search feature and the possibility of adding skins and lots of plugins, definately check out Firefox.

Some websites preform better in a particular website compared to another. I also use safari, but it sometimes has problems streaming videos from websites and doesn't have a inbuilt java plugin for things like flash games and all that.

You will find the most widely used browsers are Internet Explorer and Firefox.

It isn't necessary to have more then one but can be helpful sometimes, i use safari 95% of the time.

people use different browsers, because each is different as far as how they display info. Different web designers may use "IE" for checking a built web page, but it may show up different in a browser such as "Firefox". Personally, I like Firefox the best of all browsers.

Internet Explorer came on my computer, but I prefer Mozilla Firefox and primarily use that. I don't really want to uninstall or delete Internet Explorer, however. Sometime some internet programs or functions need Explorer in order to work. Some things can't be downloaded or performed in Firefox. Also, if a webpage isn't working in Firefox, sometimes I'll try it in Explorer.

score information superhighway browsers: Chrome, FireFox and IE9. Chrome; (execs): quicker, Has own app shop, helps each and every of the internet codecs, Has computerized website translator... (cons): does not continuously help the get carry of option....... FireFox; (execs): especially plenty quicker, helps each and every of the internet codecs, undemanding to apply.... (cons): Have a great ribbon(show area is decrease than Chrome and IE9)....... information superhighway Explora 9(IE9); (execs): Have a smaller ribbon(purely have a URL bar), undemanding to apply, the two quicker to FireFox.... (cons): does not helps all information superhighway codecs, greater probably to buffering or end working, Freezing whilst employing dissimilar video tabs(relies upon on your computing device speed)...... in no way shop IE9 as a backup browser!

Because the browser that comes with the os ( ie or safari) are usually crap that is still used by lazy, incapable of even trying something new idiots.

Opera and Konqueror are the fastest and the best standards compliant browsers.
