my backspace button works when i use it normally in microsoft word, but if i highlight something and then click backspace, nothing happens.
i can highlight things in other programs and the button works then, so i think its something with microsoft word.
Is there a setting i may have changed by accident. How do i fix it??

This is a Word option setting. Here's how to fix it:

Word versions prior to Word 2007:

1. Click on the Tools->Options menu item.

2. Click the Edit tab.

3. Under Editing Options, check the check box next to "Typing replaces selection".

4. Click OK.

In Word 2007:

1. Click the Office button in the upper-left corner.

2. Click the Word Options button.

3. Click the Advanced tab.

4. Under Editing, check the check box next to "Typing replaces selected text".

5. Click OK.

That should do it.

When you highlight something with the mouse in Word, press the "Delete" key and not the backspace key.
