Some of the popular people at my school told me to download a virus for my computer... I don't know what they are so can anyone tell me what they are because they sound fun, and they said if i get a virus I can be popular, can anyone help.

Those people are being idiots. They're mocking you and trying to make fun of you. A virus is something of which the sole purpose is to destroy or exploit the victim (that's you).
Viruses can collect your personal information, such as credit card numbers and passwords. Or they can 'break' your computer making it unusable. DO NOT get a virus.

Point 1 - in humans a virus is not good for you so do you you think a computer version for your computer is good for it?
Point 2 - viruses in humans vary from making you ill to killing you, now translate that to a computer virus for a computer.
Point 3 - if you still really interested in getting a computer virus get an old computer load XP onto it without any service packs then go online. I'd give the comp about 5 minutes max from it being totally unusable after you do that.
Point 4 - you would be popular for your stupidity in downloading one but not in the way of your thinking what popular is.
Footnote - in next to no time you got 6 strangers who you have never met trying to advise you on this, you are popular, you just don't see it.

Well.. If this question is not a Troll.. Read this carefully..
They are toying with you.. A Virus would mess up your computer.
They are not very good friends if they want you to mess up your PC.
Humor them.. Tell them you got one and it rendered your PC useless..
Then say.. WOW.. Your stupid enough to think i would actually do that? HA!
Also on a side note: Dont try to be popular.. It's not all it's cracked up to be.

A virus is a piece of software that hacks YOUR computer steals your personal data wipes system files etc.., not a good thing!
