If you are looking for professional programs with good servers. I would suggest Vista. But if you like to hack games, or are used to the original programs, then I suggest XP. I have both. Currently I like the XP better. It has better support I am used to it and it is overall better. But the thing is. Microsoft is making Vista more dominant by adding new features XP doesn't have and making XP obsolete by not letting manufactures sell it anymore with their computers unless they already had them in stock. Eventually XP's support features will be gone. So Vista will take over. I personally like to hack/cheat games so XP is better. It is easier to use the binary codes and items. But not to worry because Vista will eventually be able to be hacked into.

GOOD THINGS ABOUT XP

Easier to hack

Easier to use

More support currently

Almost all features work

GOOD THINGS ABOUT VISTA

Becoming the king of computers

Going to be easier to use

More programs

More possibilities

More customization

BAD THINGS ABOUT XP

Slowly declining because of Microsoft

If you have an error on XP your screwed because no one wants to help - lol

Some programs don't work

BAD THINGS ABOUT VISTA

Lots of problems with programs

No good support currently

Problems with everything

Horrible to try to use with hacking

Some bad features

Overall I suggest currently XP. But in say, a year, I would suggest Vista. I'm sorry that was so long but wanted to make sure you knew everything about them. I hope this helped. If you got any more questions email me!

I would go for XP right now i hear its going to be supported for a while still

I would go for XP after having Vista Home Premium for a year and i can tell you that on a mid range PC with an AMD dual core 3GB of RAM and an Nvidia 7300 graphics card it ran slower than it does under XP

Despite what people say a lot of games and software are compatible with Vista but some older games won't run at all and some newer games take advantage of Vista like Crysis

Vista is not very good at being on a PC that is running for a long time in my experience after about 18 hours it started to run into some graphical glitches though that could be my PC but its never happened on XP

At the moment XP us a very good stable OS that won't chew up ram XP uses far less ram compared with Vista and the graphical requirements are far lower so it won't behave like you are playing a game all the time.

The biggest downside though is that XP is hard to find to buy as Microsoft are forcing it on people and you go for technical support it would suggest help for vista more than XP

I like XP more, though XP will soon be outdated, so I also have Vista. If you can't decide, try a dual-boot with XP and Vista. Also, if you do get Vista, get Home Premium or better.

Vista SP1 does fix many of the bugs present in the gold release of Vista. Future updates will also fix various bugs. You will need to upgrade to Vista eventually, so might as well install it now.

XP all the way. Vista is a hardware hog, you'll need 2Gb RAM, a 512mb videocard and a 2Ghz+ processor for it to run well esp. if you use the Aero interface.

And most developers are still writing their programs for XP rather than Vista, and popular hardware such as SoundBlaster soundcards are not fully supported yet.

Add to that DRM restrictions and a lack of available hardware drivers, not to mention the fact that Vista is slower than XP in most tests and I'm left with no reason to change.

XP is easily the best OS that Microsoft have ever produced,

fortunately it's getting an extended period of support through to 2014, and I'd not rule out another extension to its life given its continuing popularity.

I posted a question about this subject the other day,as i was thinking of upgrading to Vista from XP.

But I've decided to keep my XP system and upgraded the ram instead!

I've only ever known XP so i feel i comfortable with it,..for now.....!

In the hear future,I'm thinking of getting a Vista Laptop,so I'll have the best of both world's that way, with less the hassle of upgrading,...hopefully! ;)

XP for sure! ;)

I like Vista best, once the settings are tweaked its far better.

http://mostlysavingmoney.com/top-10-windows-vista-speed-tweaks/

I have no problems with Vista (had Vista Home Premium for a year) and find all the extra features speed up everyday usage.

e.g.

snipping tool

e-mail button (one click button to copy photos onto a new e-mail and shrink them to a selected size)

readyboost

windows mail

tap preview

quicker to navigate explorer

Etc, Etc, loads of big advantages over xp.

The only disadvantage is Vista takes a little longer to boot up and shutdown.

Vista is very stable, I had more problems with XP than I have had with Vista (same computer as I upgraded xp to Vista).

If I had a low spec. computer, then I would stick with the lighter XP O/S.

Vista definitely. XP is good, but Vista SP1 is excellent. It fixes all the old bugs that made Vista rubbish at first.

Vista. As long as you keep updating it there are no problems. I seem to remember lost of people hating XP when it first came out. :-)

Well most people here will tell you to stick with XP (ser pack 2)

Except me. I have had issues, but I figured out what the problems were and are resolved. This OS is quite excellent (if its working lol).
