my hard disks free space is decreasing!!!
i have a n 80 gb hard disk of four partisions with 20gb each.
all of a sudden my c drive runs out of space its were my xp is installed.
its below 1gb. thne it reached 200mb in one day.
so deleted many files(including temp and internet files, uninstalled programs) and tried the disk cleanup. then i again managed to get 1gb of space.
after one day it again reached 400mb. i have nortan 2005(with recent updates) and tried it but no use. when i opened the c drive and selected all files and checked it properties it shows only 10.gb of usage. but my drive property shows 18.2gb of usage and 443mb freespace. i had tried the search(with hidden and system files selected) and searched for files more than 200mb and didn't find any suspected files(not many).

then where does my diskspace get used.
help me please.

keep in mind the recycle bin reserves 10% for the drive no matter what, so even if you clean up 10% is still reserved, you can decrease the recycle bin size ( and empty it ) and that will free up some slack. Xp takes about 500 Mb on install, there is a good chance that IE ( if you use it ) has a huge cache, also your swap file will take up a bit of reserved space, this can be minimized with more RAM installed as it will lessen the need for big swap files, XP determine the size of the swap file based on available system memory and performance and adjusts accordingly.

Holy crap, that's crazy. Do more scan with other programs (Spyware Doctor, Webroot Spysweeper, and thhat kind of stuff.) Get Zone ALarm too, is might be possible that someone is getting on your computer and loading it with junk. Also, whne you have a folder open go to Tools > Folder Option > View > and under Hidden files and folders click the Show hidden files and folders then click OK. Take a look again at your harddrive folders to see if there are any hidden files and folders that should not be there.
