I am having problems with connecting to the internet so I want to clear my browser cache.

Mozilla Firefox

1. Click Tools in the upper toolbar and select Options.
2. Click the Privacy Icon.
3. Click Clear across from the Cache option.
4. Click Ok.
5. Exit and re-launch the browser.

I`ve been through all the steps but in the Private icon there is no Cache icon. The only options I have are History, cookies and private data.So which option should i clear? Also I could only "clear" on the "cookies" option.

thanks

I've linked the cache-clearing tutorial from the Firefox site, which provides detailed instructions with screenshots. Also, if you haven't upgraded to the latest Firefox version, I advise doing so (click "Help" and then "Check for Updates...").

All those options you mention--history, cookies, private data, passwords, etc.--are considered a part of the "cache".

Rather than "clear" those checkboxes, you want them all checked. This ensures that all your info isn't saved for the next time you open Firefox, giving you better security.

Clearing your cache may speed up your connectivity slightly, but if you're having problems connecting entirely, that's a different problem.

You missed a step between 2 and 3, and your 3 isn't quite right.

2.5. Click on the Settings button in the Private Data section.

3. Put a check in the box beside Cache.

Okay your way back to the Privacy Options dialog and click on Clear Now.

Tim D is correct; clearing your Internet cache isn't likely to fix a flaky connection.

To clear the cache only:

Tools->Options->click on the Advanced icon, then the Network tab.

On the Privacy tab, you can also select settings to set what Private Data you want cleared.

Firefox is the absolute final browser. IE is a breeding floor for virus'. I have been given rid of abode windows altogether and use Ubuntu Linux with with Firefox and have no virus problems in any respect anymore.

History, cookies, and private data is the cache. However, I cant see how clearing your cache will solve your internet connection problem.
