my computer use to always read my burnt and copied cd's. then i got i virus and had to take my computer to get cleaned out. the majority of my music was on copied cds and now computer wont read anyting burnt or copied. Can anyone help me?

That is the most likely culprit and it came as a Security Upgrade.

Might try cleaning the CD Drive with one of those like Scotch Laser Lens Cleaner 35300. This is the DVD versing but Cd's and DVDs are identical, except for the electronics in the CD/DVD. If it still doesn't work, probably the CD is dieing. Up grade to a DVD and you can watch Movies too. :)

open up device mgr, where it lists all devices,go to dvd/cd rom
right click say on dvd,select properties,then select properties on the tab.
make sure this is check marked, enable digital cd audio for this cd rom device
do the same on the cd also.

What message do you get? Or none at all? That's definitely a problem with the CDs or the hardware.

Try uninstalling the drivers, then uninstall the CD drive, then reinstall the drive, then reinstall the drivers.

certainly not, toothpaste on the disc will muck up the interior your Wii. There are commercially available disc fixers, yet those are for repairing scratches, not particularly cracks.
