I need to make my account on windows an administrator to install an anti-virus, but whenever i try to do it by putting net localgroups... on command prompt it says Access Denied. Is there any other way to do it?
The administrator is my brother, but hes touring the world just now and refuses to let me know his password.

go to the start menu, run, type lusrmgr.msc, and go to folder users. you should be able to use this to your advantage.
also, in control panel., go to user accounts, change the way users log on/off, and disable the welcome screen. then restart your computer and log onto user name Administrator - it usually doesn't come with a password set. If it does, you can use the method I described above to change/remove it.
Good luck

Go to start, control panel, users, and change your account. If that doesn't work. If it's xp, restart the computer push F8 key a couple times, a menu should come up to boot in safe mode. Boot in safe mode, there should be a main administrator account you can click on, click it, go to control panel, users and change your account to admin. And you can even go into your brothers in safe mode and delete his password. If it's vista, you can't do that part.

Evidently your brother doesn't trust you or he would have given you the password before he left. It is not your computer, what do you want to screw up your brothers computer for?
Did you say you were going to install games on his computer? Don't gives us I am trying to do good, like all I wanna do is install Anti-Virus and a few games as well.
