Question:
Why won't Ubuntu open the Home folder?

I am running Ubuntu, the newest version, and I am having some problems with my storage. When I go to Places, on the top bar, and I click on Home Folder, Desktop, Documents, etc., nothing happens. There is no error message like some other people get, and it doesn't open up something other than the folder, it just doesn't do anything. I can open everything by going to Computer, though. I think this has to do with some problems other people have had with something called Nautilus (as you can tell, I'm not very good with this sort of thing) and I have seen other postings on the internet about the same problem. However, when I try what other people have suggested, opening up nautilus from the terminal and changing some settings, it says that nautilus cannot be found and/or it doesn't exist. Please help!

I'm not sure how to fix that. Try UbuntuForums.com

Just FYI, Nautilus is how you view the file system. Like Windows Explorer in Windows.

Nautilus (not so bad if you ask me) is not installed yet on your system. To do so go to

System / administration / Synaptic and type nautilus is the search box. The last version is 1.2.32.0

or open Terminal (CTRL+ALT+T) and type sudo apt-get install nautilus, follow the on-screen instructions to complete installation.

Hmmm... try running nautilus using the full path:

/usr/bin/nautilus

and then making the changes you mentioned.

can you please ask the question in Ubuntu Forum?

http://ubuntuforums.org/

It is much more easier to answer questions there than in yahoo answers. Ubuntu forum is the proper place for asking any kind of question (dumb or smart) related to ubuntu. Thousands of users are there, so you'll get your answer quickly and correctly.
