IP ADDRESS HELP 5 points :(?

Question

Some stranger on tumblr knows my IP address and posted it for all his followers to see. Can they find out exactly where I live and find me? What can they do if they know my IP address? I'm scared . . I know he knows my city and state because he said it. How can I block someone from knowing my IP address :\ I use chrome btw and Ty full points

Look at all these stupid answers. The only thing you can get from an IP is ****. You really can't track a person down. If that was the case than every ones personal information would be on Yahoo answers because Yahoo stores your ip every time you use their site. So don't worry. If your really that worried than I'll put up my IP adress so that I can prove to you that it isn't a big deal. :)

They are idiots An IP address and a few cents or pennies will get them a VERY small bag of sweeties. It only traces back to your ISP, normally at the geographical location of their DHCP server. Probably not the same town, county, state or in some cases even country.

To maintain your privacy it's best to pay for a proxy or VPN. A quick Google will show you companies that provide these services. It is absolutely worth it to pay a small monthly fee for a VPN. You need to protect your privacy not just from someone trying to intimidate you on a social site but all the websites you go to that track you.

they cant do anything further and are just trying to scare you. i think theres some easy method to find IP on tumblr and once that is done, google will find the general location of the ISP associated with the IP.

I wouldn't worry about it...even if they know your ip, just make sure you have a strong password for your network in case it gets hacked...there are websites out there that by giving your ip, it will give your location, not your actual address though.

Only the ISP themselves know your location, an IP address is only used for your machines to communicate with the server. The ISP's servers can be located with it though, or at least their general location.

Are they a similar APs everytime? might want to no longer tell out of your description. ~ attempt monitoring the AP & channel it is being lost even as it is going down & see in case you be conscious a trend. sounds like some thing may be "stepping" on a channel or style of channels and overpowering them. what's the signal environment the position you're? the position are you placed? Did this artwork and this merely all started taking position, or is this a sparkling deploy?
