Try this:

FIRST, TURN OFF AUTOMATIC UPDATES USING THIS METHOD:

(1) Go to the START menu.

(2) Right click MY COMPUTER.

(3) Click PROPERTIES and then the AUTOMATIC UPDATES tab.

(4) Choose TURN OFF AUTOMATIC UPDATES.

(5) Reboot your computer.

THEN, INSTALL AND RUN THE MICROSOFT INSTALLER CLEANUP UTILITY:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;295823

Use it to remove all versions of Office, Excel Viewer, etc. (FIRST, make sure that you have another copy of these programs on a CD so that you can reinstall them).

NEXT, REBOOT YOUR COMPUTER & REINSTALL THE MS OFFICE PROGRAMS (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, and/or whatever else that you use) BY USING YOUR OFFICE CD.

THEN, RUN ALL THE UPDATES.

FINALLY, run Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer 2.0 (this step is optional, you can do a search and download it for free from Microsoft). Also, turn the Automatic Updates back on on the Microsoft Update website.

WELL, it worked for me. YMMV. Good luck!

Go to http://www.microsoft.com. click on and then enable automatic updates. In doing this you will not have to access this manually as Microsoft will download the updates automatically. When you turn off your PC it will also install the updates for you at this time (there will be a slight delay in the shutdown process.

This can also be accomplished from your desktop by clicking and then checking "Automatic Updates".

Hope this helps

If automatic updates are enabled on you computer than this should happen by itself. A icon should should appear in the notificaiton section on the bottom right of our screen asking if you would like to install updates.

To enable this feature click start menu, control panel, and then automatic updates and choose the settings you want for automatice updates.

Try here:

Critical Updates:

http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us

Runtime Errors and others:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;255058

http://support.microsoft.com/search/default.aspx?query=Runtime+errors&catalog=LCID%3D1033&spid=&qryWt=&mode=r&cus=False&x=12&y=13

Good Luck

If that doesn't work then:

Try these. They work and they are free:

Run the tool and then download the free spyware and virus protection programs:

Malicious virus removal tool:

http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwar...

Ad-Aware Free download:

http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/...

AVG Download free

Not really sure, but do you have a pop-up blocker on? They can sometimes stop stuff coming in.
