You could instead use an Internet faxing service. All your faxes will be sent/received in your email inbox. You will get your own personal fax number and don't need to buy any hardware of software. All you need to sign up is an email account. Take a look at this list of the best Internet faxing companies http://faxing-service-review.toptenreviews.com/

RE:

I do not have a landline phone line but I do have the internet on my computer via cable modem. How can I fax things using my fax machine? Can I hook the fax machine straight to the computer and it will work? Do I have to set something up a certain way?

Hi,

I don't think you can... you can get a fax number on line though. I think if you are going to use your fax machine you need a land line. You might be able to use your fax as a scanner if you hook it up to the computer.. my mum has one that does that.

With Internet you can send and receive faxes with your own unique number, you just need an email account and you can sign up. I use www.utbox.net Really easy to use. You can buy credit which you use to send and receive faxes.

you can not connect a fax machine to your internet connection. Only thing you can do without a landline is to get a subscription to a service to efax.com that will send and receive faxes. Only catch is that you would have to scan in on your own any documents on paper before you can fax them.

I am not sure, but I think you can do it some how. Here are a couple of sites that may help you.

A fax machine works over the phone line. You need a phone line to use a fax machine. Plugging into your pc won't work.

You could use a service like efax to send/receive faxes. But you'd need a scanning device to send images to your pc that you could then efax. Or you could just fax docs you create on your pc.

If your fax machine is really an aio printer, they usually have scanning features.

Besides, who really faxes legitimate stuff anymore? Just email whatever you want to send.
