What is making my CPU spike while playing music or video? It makes the sound glitch.?

For the past few months I have been trying to figure this out. The sound glitches out, like cuts in and out or takes the last fraction of a second of what was just playing and loops it at a high speed. It happens when I play music normally on my player (Foobar), when im streaming video like Youtube, and also a lot when I mix using Virtual DJ. What could be the problem? Google isn't helping much.

See how much your running and reduce the amount of CPU usage to aid smoother streaming and playback

when the problem is happening, open task manager, go to processes, sort by CPU, the see what's taking most of your CPU time. that's usually the suspect.



sound is usually not a big CPU hog, because it usually does not need to be computed. so maybe it's your cpu that's not strong enough to keep up with all the stuff you're doing. how old is your computer ?
