Why do i hear random mouse clicks on my computer?

My computer audio has been reporting (not by text just by noise) the sound of mouse clicks. Either one click alone, or every now and again a clearly intentional double click of the left mouse button.

I've considered this a intrusion from the internet like a screen capture application or a remote desktop type application mirroring my information to others BUT i've disconnected my LAN cable and made sure my firewall was blocking all incoming and outgoing requests and still i hear this clicking. I timed it once and it seemed to be about every 5 minutes or so it happens, other times i feel it's randomized.

Can anyone please help me solve this?

Try opening your volume mixer to see where the sound is registering ...

in windows seven..even if it is just a system sound it will have its own volume bar and volume meter...

in previous versions of windows it may show up under WAV of MIDI....

once you have isolated the program making this sound rip it off your computer by whatever means necessary ...find it in the control panel... look up the .exe after finding it in the task manager run a search for it and kill it... whatever it takes...it may be malware or spyware... please do a full system scan with an up to date virus - spyware - and registry scanner seperately... you can find them on the internet...AVG is a good antivirus for example and spybot search and destroy is a decent spyware app

this sounds like an application if it turns out to be a friendly see if the program has options to disable the sound
