I am able to receive emails but not send them. Outlook says that it cannot find the LAN even though my broadband and internet connections are working correctly.

I was with Orange broadband but I have recently moved to a rented property and it already has broadband enabled. I am using this connection for the internet but it does not seem to work with my outlook sending.

Is the SMTP problem becuase I am not on the orange connection now? Can I use another SMTP to send emails as I receive them through my .com web account and this works fine but does not provide smtp?

Yes, you will need to change the SMTP address. It will also probably require authentication. So you will need to set up the User Name/Password in Outlook Internet E-mail Settings (or whatever email client you are using).

You can use Yahoo emails servers. If you have a Yahoo email account or Hotmail you can use their server setting to collect email to your email client. Here's the instruction how to do this for a Yahoo email account and setting up Outlook 2002 on XP:

or for outlook Express:

Here's how to set up Outlook if you have a Hotmail account:

Alternatively, you could run your own SMTP email server:

Orange would only accept smtp from a subscribed connection because they can easily identify the source machine and authenticate it. Many mail services do NOT allow smtp unless you subscribe to a paid service now, as it makes security easier to enforce.

a very sturdy answer to each and each of the subjects delivered on through Micro$oft workplace 2007 is to no longer installation the crappy piece of software and purely follow workplace 2003 because it really is the perfect time Micro$oft did some thing properly.
