Different computers different sims 2 problems?

I have a computer and a lap top my sims 2 used to be installed on my lap top and all of a sudden it randomly stoped working due to the directx 9.0c but i checked and everythings up to date. also i just got a new computer and it gets to like only 3% then says there was a problem transfering it from the media i'm so confused but my computer is an hp pavilion windows xp someone please help!!!

It might be the disc if it cant transfer data and wont work anymore...try put the disc in and dont run autorun instead go to my computer and right click the cd/dvd rom drive and click explore if it loads everything without hassle its not the disc if it doesn't its the disc

Sims is a badly designed game, everyone has problems with it, on some computers, the graphics aren't advanced enough or it needs a large amount of memory. For some reason it can't be installed with firewall or directx, this is because to play the game, you often have to be connected to the internet and directx won't let it. The Sims package has link to the internet.

actually, i'm fairly optimistic you may setting up the interest on 2 desktops with one code. What you won't be able to do is sign in one code on 2 money owed. yet i've got moved my video games over each and every time I improve to a clean workstation and it quite works nice.

Sounds like you have a pretty scratched up disc, which makes things go crazy.
