Question:
Screensaver issues? maybe?

I have a a new computer barely a week or two old. At nights when I go to bed I shut off the monitor but leave the computer running, and sometimes the next morning(actually this marks three mornings in a row) I turn the monitor back on and the screensaver is off but instead of my desktop the screen is black and few icons are present, this morning this went away when I moved my mouse, other mornings pressing ctrl-alt-del had the same efffect, then I type in the password and everything appears fine once more. But then I try and open a program and the screen will go blank with part of the taskbar visible at the top of the screen, after many frustrating minutes of ctrl-alt-del or pressing the windows buttton I can occasionaly get it to go away only to have it come back when I try to open the start menu to reboot, most of the time I can't though and have to just press the power button, afterwards there are no problems for the rest of the day. Anyone have any bright ideas?

Shut off your computer also when you shut off monitor.

Just let the computer also take a rest.

There is A great conflict over to shut ur pc off or leave on 24/7..I have always kept my own due to what is called "metal stress" on the hard drive..expanding and contracting from cooling and heating back up..as I say to each his own there...I never shut my monitor off as well... but to set the screensaver options..right click on your blank screen area ..a box pops up..click properties.... then you will see A box pop up..has tabs up top..click screen saver..and set it or disable it how you want to..Moving the mouse and the screen coming up is normal is the way it's designed....if computer is left on..the screen saver takes over onhowever many minutes you have it set for, and shutts the screen part down...when you move the mouse..or bank the table the computer is on..it opens back up..is not a computer problem, but a setting problem..Good Luck

Turning off the monitor is not a good idea. Set a screen saver and the computer will be fine. Or if you don't want it on, turn the entire computer off.

^ These guys are right, most PC's aren't made to run 24-7
