Or will I need a faster proccessor if I purchase a larger storage?

The two are unrelated. You will not need a faster proccessor for more storage and more storage will not make your processor faster or more powerful.

Storage is related to the size of your harddrives, which are different parts from the processor.
Increasing the size of your free space in MS Windows can get you some limited speed up in the processing, by making those free spaces as virtual memories. However, your processor's still the same speed. The processing just seems faster because the large virtual memory allows your computer to read data from your harddrive less often.
Purchasing a larger storage doesn't require faster processor. It's when you start installing more and more applications that run at the same time, that your processor will get "burdened" by the load. Thus, you'll need a faster processor.

If you fill in gallons of gas and have a slower engine i am sure your car will not run faster. storage has nothing to do with speed. A faster processor and more RAM will help. With that lots of storage will help you in storing a lot of data on your computer. Well if you get a bigger Hard drive make sure you partition it for optimal performance. If you wish to upgrade your processor and have a good budget go for AMD 4800+ or higher. At least have a minimum of 512 MB RAM (1 gig and higher is always recommended) For Hard drive go for SATA drives for faster computing.

close dr know, it depends on how fast your current storage drive is, if it is a very efficient and fast drive, then you will see no effect, if however you buy a drive that is faster/more efficient than your current one (like buying a SATA or PATA when you are currently using and IDE drive), then you will see a 'performance' improvement...note: perfromance is not 'processor' a processor crunches numbers for your pc, but is not the only factor in how fast your pc runs...

hi this is my first time so here we go.... it depends on the rpm of your hard drive and its connection, i.e pata(parralel ata) or sata (serial ata)most hard drives rotate at 7,200rpm but you can buy western digital 'raptor' hard drives that spin at 10,000rpm. so yes... if u buy a sata raptor drive your computer will run quicker, but in terms of video editing and so on you will need to upgrade your processor and ram, i recommend the new athlon 64 duel core processors, and 1gb of crucial ballsitix(ddr500)(i have 2gb of ram, one for each core :) and 2 raptor hard drives raid striped. your pc will be greased lightning!!!

If you increase your RAM, yes, and in addition if you upgrade your processor, then it would be much better. For more details and explanation, you can visit http://www.cnet.com/

Not the procesor is the thing ..u will probabilly need more RAM
