i got a computer at home and i have to access some files on a computer thats in the office. i know the ip address of the computer and the FTP ip also. but when i try to access the files on the office computer it asks me for a user name and a password, but on the office computer we don't have a username and password so i don;t know what to enter. when i just click CONTIUNE it pops the log in windows back up because i think thats not the password. SOO how can i view the files on a computer with just an IP and FTP ip address. REMEMBER there is no passowrd in the admin account on that computer.

The FTP username/password do not have to be tied into a Windows username/password. So whoever set up the FTP server on that machine set up a username/password on it.

BTW, you can try to see if the FTP server allows anonymous access. For the username, use "anonymous". If it still asks for a password, type in something random. If anonymous connections are allowed, it will let you in.

sure of direction. Your IP handle to your laptop is like your social risk-free practices variety. as quickly as somebody gets it this is it. How do you think of the feds hack into computers or no longer to show "Hackers." the proper element to do is to get an IP blocker utility application so as that it will get rid of a few problems.

try this:

ftp://username:password@whateverdomain.com

It will kill that loop most likely.
