I am using this program that I found on my computer to burn files to dvd. I tried using a dvd r (I have 9.25 GB worth of files), but it said that I had to insert a cd r or cd rw. So I inserted a cd rw and tried putting one of the video files (400 MB worth) on the cd rw. It took it, burned it, and ejected it. Then I tried putting it on my dvd player on my laptop and on my tv and it didn't work. Then I tried it on my media player and the video worked. The picture was a little grainy though. Why wouldn't my dvd r work? I can't use a cd rw for all of my files because they won't fit.

The reason that it said you had to insert a CDR or CD RW is because the program did not recognize your file as a video file. Most, but not all DVD software converts raw video into a file that is recognized by a DVD Player. I would check out Sonic DVD and see if that works.

Hope this helps.

Um, the first responder is probably correct. You can tell whether or not your drive burns only CDs or if it should burn DVDs a couple ways. One--look at the physical drive itself on the outside. It should either say something like "RW DVD+Rewritable" and/or "DVD Multi Recorder" if it burns DVDs, or only "DVD Rom" and/or "Compact Disc Rewritable" if it just plays DVDs and burns CDs. Or you can go to your control panel on your computer, click the folder that says "device manager" or "system"-->"device manager" and click on "DVD/CD Rom drives" and see if any say "DVD-RW." If none do, chances are you don't have a drive that can burn DVDs.

You can't burn to CDs and expect them to play in DVD drives. They will play in other computer drives if you burn them as data files, but they will not play on standard DVD players. You can use multiple CD-Rs to save files, though. If you have 9.25GB, that just means you will need about 3 different CDs to burn files.

except you have chosen to burn a mixed mode disc (ie records & audio) it won't. those c.d's are somewhat extra complicated to burn because it somewhat is complete in 2 sections. it is going to ask you to :upload the audio, then once you press next you get the choice to function records records. with the help of what you have mentioned, you have not executed this. the only way a disc will burn something can purely be what you have chosen. it basically seems to me which you will have the two further something with the help of "twist of destiny" or you won't be one hundred% acquainted with nero. Nero would be puzzling simply by enormous quantities of utility/suggestions that someone can do. do not rigidity. the least confusing way so which you will burn audio records is basically choose for the music c.d decision. do not rigidity, burning would be problematical. while uncertain, verify the disc when you have burned it. in case you have made a mistake, you could basically injury the offending disc. good success!

Yes. If you don't have a DVD burner, you're out of luck.

If you DO, then you need to convert the video files to a DVD-playable format, and ConvertXtoDVD is the simplest way to do that.

Sounds like your drive is only a CD ReWriter and not a DVD ReWriter.
