Question:
Troubles with iPod nano?
2006-02-19 11:18:52 UTC
So my nano won't play songs I download from iTunes, but those songs will play on iTunes, and the nano plays songs I import from CDs. I think the problem is because iTunes downloads songs as Protected AAC files, and you need iPod software 1.3 to support that kind of file, when the nano can only be updated to 1.1 at the highest. So how can I get these songs to play? I've updated my iTunes version countless times, I've restored and reset the nano even more times, my iPod updater software is as current as it gets too. I've tried converting the Protected files to just normal AAC kind, but it says since they're protected, they can't be changed. Any ideas? I've thought about going back to the apple store for help (the nano is brand new as of last tuesday) but I've come down with mono and haven't had the strength to leave the house. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

First of all, if you are operating on a PC your nano would have needed to be formatted for PC (Just in case that's your problem) Next you can go here and get the latest software http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/ and if none of that works if none of that works try restoring it to factory settings (This erases everything on the Nano) you should have instructions on how to restore in your pamphlet that should have come with your Nano.

call the store you got it from or contact Apple.
