I posted this question earlier because I need help ASAP. So someone please help me with my problem.

****My boyfriend bought me a HP laptop in earlier last month. I use it for college and I am the main person on it but I also added him as a second user for his stuff. It has worked perfectly with the Wi-Fi we have in our house...it has ran super fast and I haven't had a problem with it until about a week ago when I let my oldest daughter use it. NOW when I try to connect to the internet it goes to my homepage but then it gets really slow and takes forever to load to my email or a different site. My buttons are also acting like they are getting stuck. I have Nortons installed and it scans but says there is no problems with my computer. I don't know what it could be....PLEASE IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME....what can I do, how can I fix it???

It does sound like it could be malware. Get the free version of Malwarebytes from http://www.malwarebytes.org/ and run a full scan with it. I've seen this program catch infections on a computer that had been scanned with Norton and AVG.

Also, you may want to install the WOT (Web of Trust) add-on for your browser from here http://www.mywot.com/ and tell your daughter to only click on the links that have the green circle sign on them.

Good luck!

Okay check your Internets history for when your daughter was on and see what sites she visited. Also check downloads and if she downloaded something than uninstall that if possible or delete the file.

Norton is not a very good virus prevention software. I recommend G Data Antivirus. You can always try doing a system restore that will remove everything that occurred up until the point that you choose. You should also clear all of your cookies if you can because those take up some of your Internets speed if you get too many.

I don't really understand what you mean by your keys getting stuck? Like they physically are getting stuck or the computer is freezing when you are typing. If it's physically then your daughter probably ate at your computer, and if it is freezing than you should delete what she did.

Now if you check the history and see that she went to a website that doesn't look safe than I recommend that you download Malware Bytes. This is a free permanent virus prevention software that will detect any viruses on your computer and give you the option to remove it.

I really hope this helps!

Chances are your daughter was on a website that she shouldn't have been on. Right click the back button, and click "Show all history". If there isn't anything there, order a list of all the history your Wi-Fi modem has recorded. Norton (even if they say they're good) really aren't. And computers don't slow down overnight, chances are its a virus.

But fear not! Have it checked out, and if it has a virus, either format it, or get Kaspersky PURE (It's cheap, and a decent firewall). I once had a virus from a malfunctioning World of Warcraft add on, and Norton couldn't pick it up. However, Kaspersky did. But chances are, it's a virus from a site your daughter should not be on.

Try changing the homepage to something else. If that doesn't help, there might be a trojan or something running in the background, regardless of what Norton says...(if it actually is Norton, some viruses imitate it running when it's not). Try starting it in safe mode and see if it behaves differently. If it does, then it's something she installed (maybe unintentionally), or some problem with an add-on or browser helper. You could also try a different browser and see if that acts any differently.

You can scan with Malwarebytes free version. It is compatible with Norton and finds things that might get past any antivirus. You can download latest version in the upper right corner. This program only runs when you scan with it so it does not take up resources. http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/

Microsoft has a tool to check your browser for things that might slow it down if you are using Internet Explorer. http://support.microsoft.com/mats/ie_performance_and_safety/

Take it to a pro who can actually check it out!

Probably nothing really really wrong with it.

Don't stress it. DO YOU HAVE A ANTI VIRUS RUNNING IN IT?
